Review of Omoni oboli's okafor' Law
Saw Okafor's Law Yesterday.
Here are my thoughts.
Pluses first ...
Kudos to the cinematographer !
The movie has an Interesting cinematic style with many close shots that draws one into the characters and conversations(it would have helped if the dialogue was great).
Thankfully someone finally found a good way to use that M.I's horrible chairman track.
This brings to mind more opportunities for artistes to collaborate with movie makers to produce original sound tracks *Titanic type ish*
Gabriel Afolanyan's xter brought some light to the film , it was clearly due to him acting in his element and improvising as opposed to the script writer
Minuses
The story line is Used and trite. ( guy bets with friends to get a girl then falls in love)
You know that great cinematography i spoke about ? it made the makeup flaws pop in HD .
I spent a lot of time counting Aunty Omoni's pores.
it would have been cool would have been not to hear okafor's law 100 times through out the movie, introducing it once is enough and it didn't have to be in the first ten minutes.
Casting Toyin Aimakhu was a mistake as she visibly struggled to string together English words in a comfortable way. It didn't help that she was supposed to be a marketing executive (Quite Reminiscent of Jose.M 's first English press conference) She only came to life when she returned to her roots.
Badly done product placements ....Wait for my LinkedIn article on that
Final Verdict
Creative Script writing / Plot - 3.5/10 ( there was no need for the court case ,a script so bad couldn't have been stolen...it was made) .
Cinematography : 7/10
Sound/Music :- 6/10 ( for the good attempt , more music would have helped)
Recommendation :-
If your gen goes bad and you need a place with great AC to hang out while your gen guy is working, buy the tickets. #nollywood #moviesReviews #popcorned #popcornedkeys #okaforsLaw
